1. Who we are

ExplainMyNumbers is operated as an independent product by its author. Contact: see Contact page.

2. What data we collect

• Account data: email address and hashed password (bcrypt). We never store passwords in plain text.
• Uploaded files: CSV or Excel files you choose to upload (Stripe exports, bank statements). These are stored in our database for the duration of analysis and retained for up to 30 days.
• Analysis results: The JSON report produced from your files. Retained for up to 30 days.
• Technical logs: Standard server access logs (IP, timestamp, route). No financial data is written to logs.

3. How we use your data

Uploaded files are used solely to produce the financial explanation report you requested. We do not read, sell, share, or process your data for any other purpose.

4. Data retention

Uploaded files and reports are automatically deleted 30 days after upload. You can also delete any run immediately from your dashboard using the "Delete" button.

5. Where your data is stored

All data (database, backups, application servers) is hosted on EU-based infrastructure. We do not transfer data outside the European Union.

6. Your rights (GDPR)

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us. We will respond within 30 days.

7. Cookies

We use a single session cookie (emn_token) for authentication. It is HttpOnly and expires after 24 hours. No tracking or analytics cookies are used.

8. Changes

We may update this policy. We will notify registered users by email of material changes.
